The Eden Project leaflet that can be found on their website isn't completely aimed at children but offers a sophisticated experience for adults as well. Therefore their leaflet isn't that childish and has elements to entice both children and adults. There is a lot of white/negative space, a range of bright colour, and large/bold headings that will attract a younger age group. However the body copy is in quite small text and in large paragraphs which is for the adults to get a sufficient amount of information. There are also a lot of photos. This is a compromise as the children like to look at pictures but also they are actual photos rather than cartoon images so it is suitable for adults as well.

For the double page it is the same. There are paragraphs of body copy for adults but supporting photos that will catch the attention of a younger audience. For the actual map they have used a cartoon style rather than a birds eye photo. This probably makes it easier for adults to read but the main reason is so children find it easier to navigate as reading the map and leading the way is probably something a child likes to do.

The same style is repeated on the back of the leaflet. There are photos and bright colours that will attract children but also lots of information for the adults in large paragraphs. Overall I would say this leaflet is aimed at families as they have elements for the younger audience then elements for an older audience.

This is the map for Mead Open Farm. This farm is aimed only at children which is shown by this leaflet. The map is in a cartoon style with simple shapes and clear labels to ensure the children can navigate around. Also the ratio of text to imagery is different compared to the leaflet above. As this is aimed at children only, there is more imagery and negative space and less text. There are a lot more colours on this one to make it look exciting and eye catching. Where there is text, it is in small amounts and the language isn't complex meaning children wont think anything of reading it.

This is another advert and map for a farm aimed at children. A similar scheme is used to Mead Open Farm's map. For example there is a lot of green and blue representing grass and sky. This leaflet has a funky bold font which will attract children as it doesn't look boring. It also has an image of 'Shaun The Sheep' which is a children's programme and so is clearly aimed at children. The use of lots of bright colour like yellow, red, blue and green are successful because it looks exciting and will attract a young audience.

This map has many similarities to the Mead Open Farm one as they are both aimed at children. For example the cartoon style map that makes it easy for young children to navigate. Also the use of green and blue as a background representing grass, sky and the outside in general. Once again there isn't much text and mainly imagery which means children will show interest.

Overall it is clear that advertisements aimed at children only use:
-lots of images (often cartoon rather than photography)
-bright colours
-small amounts of text in a large font
-light blue and green for the background (representing grass and sky, and green also representing      keeping the planet green etc)

Some farms have their own character, especially if its aimed very young children. Here are two logos of farms that have a character in. The first is a bull which wouldn't be your first choice of a friendly animal. However it has a smile on its face and looks welcoming. The second is a lama (I think!) and also looks friendly and has a smile. This links to my research on Michelle Reader as she said that the key is to make the character welcoming, approachable, and easy to make friends with.
